Bihar Police launches 'Abhaya Brigade' to ensure women's safety

India

Bihar Police has announced the "Abhaya Brigade" will be set up at every police station, aiming to make things safer for women and girl students—especially around schools, colleges, and coaching centers.
Each team has a female sub-inspector and three constables who'll focus on spotting harassment hotspots and making sure offenders face quick action.

How the Abhaya Brigade will work

These squads will patrol high-risk areas in both uniform and plainclothes, keeping an eye out for trouble.
They'll also connect with schools and colleges to talk about safety concerns and spread the word about Dial-112 for emergencies.
Repeat harassers will be listed as "Eve Teasers" in the Gunda Register.
For juveniles caught harassing, there's counseling first—but if it keeps happening, they'll face action from the Juvenile Justice Board.
