BJP MLA Basavaraj gets bail in Bengaluru murder case
Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Byrathi Basavaraj has been granted bail in a major Bengaluru murder case.
The case centers on the killing of realtor Shivaprakash (also known as Biklu Shiva), who was attacked and killed outside his home by a group of men in July 2025, right in front of his mother.
The dispute reportedly started over property issues earlier that year.
Basavaraj out on bail with strict conditions
Basavaraj, accused of conspiracy and murder and alleged links to threats against witnesses, was denied anticipatory bail by both the Karnataka High Court and the Supreme Court before being arrested at the airport in February 2026.
After medical checks and time in custody, he is now out on bail with strict conditions: no threatening or influencing witnesses, full cooperation with investigators, and must not leave the court's jurisdiction without obtaining written permission from the court.
The CID is still investigating, using call records and photos.
