BJP MLA, RPF personnel scuffle at Varanasi railway station
Just before PM Modi's big visit to Banaras station on Friday, there was a brief scuffle between BJP MLA Saurabh Srivastava and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel.
The clash happened when Srivastava tried to enter a high-security, restricted area with his supporters—right as security was tightened for the launch of four new Vande Bharat Express trains.
Modi inaugurates 4 new Vande Bharat trains
A video of the altercation quickly made the rounds online but things calmed down fast, and Srivastava was allowed onto the platform.
Despite this hiccup, Modi went ahead with inaugurating four new Vande Bharat routes connecting cities like Varanasi, Khajuraho, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Firozpur, Delhi, Ernakulam, and Bengaluru.
Three of these trains were flagged off virtually—another step up for India's faster rail network.
