C Joseph Vijay waives cooperative crop loans up to ₹75,000

Big news for Tamil Nadu's farmers: Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay just announced that all cooperative crop loans up to ₹75,000 taken between May 2025 and February 2026 will be fully waived.
This move is set to help over 14.43 lakh farmers across the state and will cost the state about ₹5,932 crore.
If a farmer's loan is above ₹75,000, they'll still get a flat ₹35,000 knocked off.
Government sets aside nearly ₹6,000 cr
The government says the money will reach farmers within 45 to 60 days, just in time for the next planting season.
Even though funds are tight, nearly ₹6,000 crore has been set aside to make this happen.
The relief is set to benefit the farming community.
