Calcutta High Court: Yoga Day voluntary for West Bengal employees
India
Good news for West Bengal government employees: joining the International Day of Yoga is not compulsory.
The Calcutta High Court just cleared things up, saying the state's memo was more of a friendly invite than an order.
So, if you are not into yoga or have other plans, you are off the hook.
No penalties for skipping yoga
The state's lawyer made it clear: no one will face penalties for skipping the International Day of Yoga due to personal reasons.
Justice Amrita Sinha echoed that it is totally voluntary and saw no reason for more legal drama.
Meanwhile, International Day of Yoga celebrations are still on across West Bengal, with a big event at Kolkata's Red Road where Prime Minister Modi is expected to show up.
