Centre approves ₹2,006-Cr aid for Himachal's 2023 flood recovery
The central government just cleared a ₹2,006.40 crore relief package for Himachal Pradesh to help the state bounce back after two years ago's devastating floods and landslides.
The disaster in July-August 2023 took nearly 550 lives and left a trail of destruction across the region.
Aid includes funds from National Disaster Response Fund
This aid, signed off by a committee led by Home Minister Amit Shah, includes ₹1,504.80 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund—plus an earlier ₹633.73 crore announced in December 2023.
The money is set aside specifically for rebuilding and recovery.
Funds to fix damaged roads, infrastructure
The funds will go toward fixing damaged roads, infrastructure, and essential services hit hard during the monsoon disaster.
It's part of a bigger push by the government to strengthen disaster response and support states when nature hits hard.
