Centre supports Andhra 'Clean Godavari' ahead of Godavari Pushkarams festival
The central government is stepping in to support Andhra Pradesh's 'Clean Godavari' project, which aims to clean up the river ahead of the next Godavari Pushkarams festival.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests, Environment, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development K Pawan Kalyan met union ministers to talk about tackling pollution, boosting greenery, and improving rural areas, all under the theme Swachh Godavari, Pavitra Pushkaralu.
Pollution assessment team, 260 panchayat upgrades
To fight river pollution from sewage and factories, the Center will send a special team to assess the situation and suggest fixes.
There's also a push to upgrade 260 model panchayats with better sanitation and infrastructure through the Viksit Bharat-Gram Gaurav program.
Plus, plans are on for new green zones and wildlife projects to help balance nature in the region.
