Chairman BVJK Sharma confirms Navi Mumbai airport opening July 15
Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is officially opening for international travel and cargo on July 15, 2026.
Chairman Captain BVJK Sharma confirmed the news, sharing that customs authorities have already inspected the airport's preparedness, and final approvals are in the works.
NMIA Gulf routes and cargo ramp-up
The first international flights will head to Gulf destinations, while cargo services will start on July 15 and are expected to ramp up to almost 18 weekly freighter flights.
Terminal two is set for a major upgrade, revised from an earlier 30-million-passenger terminal plan to a 50-million-passenger terminal plan.
Looking ahead, NMIA aims to boost total capacity and make travel easier with Metro Line 8, high-speed rail, better roads, and water transport links.
