Chancellor Friedrich Merz invites PM Modi to 8th IGC meeting
India
Germany's chancellor, Friedrich Merz, has invited PM Modi to Germany later this year for the eighth Intergovernmental Consultations (IGC), a major meeting where both countries team up on important issues.
The invitation came during their catch-up at the G-7 summit in France, making it their second face-to-face this year.
IGC to boost India Germany ties
This IGC is all about boosting India-Germany ties in areas like trade, investments, defense, tech, and even eco-friendly business.
The leaders also talked about making travel easier (Indians now get a transit visa waiver when passing through Germany) and celebrated new moves like a Defence Industrial Cooperation Roadmap.
They also touched on global issues and agreed to keep working together on shared challenges.
