Kerala just rolled out its 2026-27 budget, with Chief Minister VD Satheesan, who also holds the Finance portfolio, putting the spotlight on better healthcare, jobs, and modern infrastructure under the "New Age Kerala" plan.

Oommen Chandy offers up to ₹25L
The big news is the "Oommen Chandy Health Insurance Scheme," which will be implemented and gives every family up to ₹25 lakh in coverage.
There's also major funding for economic corridors connecting key cities, more money for agriculture (including a boost for rubber prices), expanded free bus travel for women and transgender people, and fresh investments in tourism and environmental protection.
Plus, there's a push for youth skill development with new centers planned, and a promise from the CM to keep spending smart: "My Government is steadfastly committed to ushering in a 'New Age Kerala' (Puthuyuga Keralam)- an era that harmonizes economic growth driven by social justice backed by modern, environmentally responsible infrastructure development."
