Cyclone Ditwah: India steps in to help citizens stranded in Sri Lanka

India

After Cyclone Ditwah hit Sri Lanka hard—causing major floods, landslides, and flight cancellations—India is set to evacuate its stranded citizens starting Sunday.
The Indian Air Force will fly special rescue missions using IL-76 and C-130J aircraft to bring people home safely.

Relief efforts and support on the ground

To help those stuck at Colombo airport, the Indian High Commission has set up an emergency help desk offering food and water.
Meanwhile, India has also sent nearly 6.5 tons of relief supplies by sea as part of Operation Sagar Bandhu, aiming to support both immediate needs and ongoing recovery for everyone affected by this unprecedented disaster.
