Delhi-Dehradun Expressway opening soon: travel time slashed
Big news for road-trippers—Union Minister Nitin Gadkari just announced that the much-anticipated Delhi-Dehradun expressway is set to open in the next 10-15 days.
This six-lane, 212-km route will cut your drive from six hours down to just about two, making weekend getaways and trips home way easier.
Gadkari even asked PM Modi to do the honors at the inauguration.
What makes this expressway special?
Starting at Akshardham in Delhi and stretching all the way to Dehradun, this highway isn't just fast—it's thoughtfully built.
Expect a 12-km elevated road, special animal and elephant underpasses (so wildlife can cross safely), plus major and minor bridges along the way.
Why does it matter?
Besides saving you serious travel time (and maybe some patience), this expressway was designed with both speed and sustainability in mind.
The first section opened for trial runs earlier this month with no tolls yet, so if you're planning a trip to Uttarakhand's hills or pilgrimage spots, things are about to get a lot smoother.
