Delhi government to strengthen nearly 500 'Deshbhakti' tricolors after storms
Delhi's massive Tricolors, part of the Deshbhakti initiative with nearly 500 flags across the city, are set for a durability boost.
After storms kept tearing them down (especially during that wild June 9 storm), the government decided it's time to make these symbols of pride a lot tougher.
Delhi engineers to shortlist 5 fabrics
Engineers will shortlist five different types of fabric and better stitching to help the flags survive harsh weather.
Some locations like Dhaula Kuan and Sarojini Nagar saw so much damage that their flags had to be taken down temporarily.
The team is also looking into stain-resistant materials and might swap out the flags more often, up to 8 times a year instead of 4, to keep them flying high.
Recommendations from this study are expected in about two weeks.
