Delhi High Court backs 6-day Telegram ban before NEET-UG retest
India
The Delhi High Court has supported the government's move to block Telegram for six days, just ahead of the NEET-UG retest.
The court said this step was fair under the law, since Telegram's features made it easy for leaked exam papers to spread quickly.
The ban will last until June 22, and Telegram must also turn off its message-editing option in India until June 30.
About 2.27 million to retake NEET-UG
The original NEET-UG exam on May 3 got canceled after the NTA confirmed the question paper had been compromised, so now about 2.27 million students have to retake it on June 21.
The court felt that blocking Telegram (even if temporary) was needed to keep things fair for everyone and protect the integrity of such a big exam.
