Delhi launches winter air quality management framework with PUCC requirement
Delhi just rolled out a new Winter Air Quality Management Framework to fight the city's yearly spike in pollution.
Key changes: you'll need a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) to buy fuel, non-BS-VI commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi can't enter Delhi during winter between November 1 and January 31,
CNG vehicles, electric vehicles, emergency service vehicles and those engaged in government work are exempt,
parking fees are going up, and offices will run at one-half capacity.
Delhi restricts out-of-state commercial vehicles
From November 1 to January 31, only BS-VI, CNG, or electric commercial vehicles from outside Delhi are allowed in: emergency service vehicles and those engaged in government work are exempt.
Construction sites face stricter rules from December 10 to January 20 when pollution peaks.
The government also plans tougher checks on open burning and dust.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is urging everyone (residents, businesses, and institutions) to pitch in: The advance notification of these measures is intended to ensure that all stakeholders have sufficient time to prepare and can contribute meaningfully to pollution-control efforts.
