Delhi logs highest January through May CO average since 2022
Delhi just logged its highest average carbon monoxide (CO) levels for January through May since 2022, reaching 1.89 mg/m3. That's a jump from last year and nearly back to 2022's peak.
While it's still under India's safety limit, experts say breathing in CO over time can mess with how your body gets oxygen, especially hitting the heart and brain.
Delhi CO spike linked to vehicles
The spike is mainly due to vehicle emissions and things like burning waste, according to Envirocatalysts.
Their founder and lead analyst Sunil Dahiya suggests cutting down on private car use and switching to cleaner, electric public transport.
Health pros warn that CO exposure can leave you feeling tired or dizzy, and it's especially tough on older folks or anyone with heart or lung issues.
It can make daily life harder by worsening breathlessness and heart problems.
