Delhi's air quality plummets; NO2 levels soar since November 1

India

Delhi's air just got a lot worse—NO2 (nitrogen dioxide) levels have surged since November 1, with hotspots like IGI Airport, ITO, and North Campus recording up to three times the safe limit.
At its peak, IGI Airport saw 240ug/m3 of NO2 in an hour—way above what's considered okay.

NO2 levels are dangerous for health

Most of this pollution comes from vehicles (about 81%), plus planes and heavy traffic.
These high NO2 levels aren't just numbers—they can trigger asthma, breathing trouble, and more.
Some spots have had over 130 hours of unsafe air already this month. And with Delhi's winter weather trapping pollutants near the ground, things could be even worse than reported.
