'Don't be ashamed of your language,' says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is urging people not to shy away from speaking their native languages, saying it's become common for Indians to use English even at home.
At a recent book launch in Nagpur, he made it clear that learning English isn't the issue—it's losing touch with your own language that worries him.
Why your language matters
Bhagwat pointed out that when we switch to English, we sometimes lose the deeper meaning behind Indian cultural ideas—like how words such as "Kalpavruksha" just don't translate the same way.
He shared how even religious leaders are now using English more often, but emphasized the importance of preserving Indian languages—a message that underscores how language is tied to cultural identity.
As he put it, "The problem is not with learning English but with not being able to speak in our own language."
