Earthquake, tsunami mock drill in Andaman and Nicobar on Monday
Heads up, Andaman and Nicobar!
On March 16, the islands will see a big earthquake and tsunami mock drill from 9:30am to 11:30am.
The goal? To make sure disaster alerts work smoothly and all emergency teams can coordinate if a real crisis hits.
No actual evacuations or rescue actions
The exercise will test how well warning sirens and communication systems work across the islands.
Agencies like the Andaman and Nicobar Command, NDRF, and INCOIS are teaming up for this, but don't worry, there won't be any actual evacuations or rescue actions this time.
What officials want to achieve with this drill
Officials want everyone to stay calm when sirens go off (daily life won't be interrupted).
These drills aim to strengthen disaster response mechanisms and enhance public safety across the islands.
Practicing now helps keep everyone safer in the future.
