Elderly woman brutally murdered for jewellery in Namakkal

Kannammal, an 80-year-old woman living alone in Patharai, Tamil Nadu, was found murdered at her home on Sunday afternoon.
Her gold earring and ring were missing, leading police to treat the case as a robbery-homicide.
The body was sent for postmortem at Pallipalayam Government Hospital.

Thanks to quick CCTV checks, police identified D Sankar (29), who had been Kannammal's tenant for six months.
He allegedly killed her to steal her jewelry and was caught within two hours—police also recovered the stolen items from him.
Sankar will soon be produced before a magistrate and is set to be remanded after further inquiry.
