Enhanced security for Amarnath Yatra: CAPF deployment
This year's Amarnath Yatra, starting July 3, will see a big security boost—Jammu authorities are bringing in 180 CAPF companies (that's 30 more than last time) to keep pilgrims safe on the 38-day trek to the famous cave shrine in Kashmir.
Whole route under watch
The whole route, covering Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur and Ramban districts, is under watch by police, CAPF and Army teams.
There are extra patrols and tighter checks from the Lakhanpur border.
Inspector General Bhim Sen Tuti is encouraging everyone to stick with official convoys from Bhagwati Nagar base camp for smoother coordination and added safety.
Authorities tackling drug trafficking
Alongside guarding the yatra, authorities are also stepping up their fight against drug trafficking—a major concern in this border region.
With stricter protocols and area sweeps in place, they're aiming to protect both pilgrims and locals throughout the event.
