Family alleges Krishnalanka police tortured 26-year-old found dead in canal
A 26-year-old man, Gade Sai Krishna, went missing for one month and was later found dead in a canal. His family says he was taken by Krishnalanka police and died after alleged torture in custody.
His mother, Vijaya Lakshmi, shared that the police only told her about his death much later and treated her poorly during the process.
The family is calling for a judicial inquiry into what happened.
High Court orders Sai Krishna produced
After the family filed a petition, the High Court ordered police to produce Sai Krishna, and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu ordered the suspension of Krishnalanka Circle Inspector Nagaraju while launching an official probe.
YSRCP leader Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) are demanding either a CBI probe or a judicial inquiry headed by a sitting judge.
APCC vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji also criticized police for not filing an FIR or saving key evidence such as CCTV footage, and the case has triggered a political storm in the State.
