Father, son among 5 arrested for BJP leader's murder in Madhya Pradesh
Five people—including the victim's own father—have been arrested for the murder of Shyamlal Dhakad, vice-president of BJP Budha Mandal.
Shyamlal was attacked while sleeping at his home in Hingoriya Bada village on July 17; his brother reported the incident to police the next morning, with serious injuries from sharp weapons.
How police cracked the case
Police say two men, Sumit and Atlu Bachhda, broke into Shyamlal's room and killed him using an ax and a knife.
The investigation pointed to a family property dispute as the motive.
Nearly five months later, police arrested five suspects—including Shyamlal's father Daulatram—who allegedly planned the murder out of fear that Shyamlal would transfer land to a village woman, which he thought would bring social stigma.
The arrests came after months of investigation and technical probes.
