Flooding from Ganga disrupts life in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh
India
Floods from the Ganga River have hit Bihar and Uttar Pradesh hard.
Even though water levels dipped a bit in places like Sultanganj, Bhagalpur, and Dighaghat on September 12, things are still tough for locals.
Roads are flooded, and daily life is far from normal.
Five dead in Bhagalpur floods
In Bhagalpur, NH-80 was shut down because of flooding. The Punpun River receded at Sripalpur, but there was a slight rise in the Sone River at Koelwar.
Sadly, five people (including four children) lost their lives in Bhagalpur after falling into water-filled ditches.
In Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad area, even funeral grounds are underwater.
Varanasi officials say their drainage system helps clear roads quickly after rain as they work to keep things moving for everyone.
