Former Assam minister Siddeque Ahmed died on Sunday at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was 63 and is survived by his wife, three sons, and a daughter.
His passing was confirmed by his personal secretary.
Four-time Congress MLA from Karimganj South
Ahmed served as a four-time Congress MLA from Karimganj South and held key roles in Tarun Gogoi's cabinet.

Chief Minister Sarma called him "a great human being" who valued relationships and was compassionate toward everyone, while Congress said it still considers him part of the organization and will accord him full respect.
