Four protesters released from Jully Central Jail after SIFF demands
Four protesters arrested last month for opposing the massive Siang Upper Multipurpose Dam have finally been released from Jully Central Jail.
Their freedom comes after demands from the Siang Indigenous Farmers's Forum (SIFF), which has been leading the protest against the proposed mega dam.
The government hopes this move will calm things down in the Siang Valley.
State invites SIFF, reinstates suspended leaders
Officials say they'll follow proper steps to withdraw police cases and are talking with SIFF about dialing back security forces in the area.
Local leaders who were suspended over protest activities have also been reinstated, signaling a push for peaceful solutions.
The state is inviting SIFF leaders for talks, promising to listen to Adi community worries about how the dam could impact their land and lives.
