Gurugram's worst November start in 3 years as AQI 368
Gurugram just saw its worst start to November in three years, with air quality taking a serious hit: AQI shot up to 368 on November 6, landing the city in the "very poor" zone.
The average AQI for the month so far is higher than recent years, and Gwal Pahari topped the charts at an unhealthy 398.
Gurugram breathing ER visits jump 30%-40%
With pollution climbing, Dr. Manu Madan, senior consultant, respiratory and sleep medicine, at Medanta, said there has been a 30% to 40% jump in people coming to the emergency room for breathing issues.
Stagnant weather is making things worse by trapping bad air close to where everyone lives.
To help out, authorities have restricted dust-generating construction and demolition activities from November 5 to 20 and started using machines for road cleaning and water sprinkling.
People are being urged to limit outdoor time and wear masks until things improve.
