Hackers accessed 50,000 clips using default passwords: Shocking hospital breach
A huge CCTV hacking scandal has come to light after Rajkot's Payal Maternity Hospital was breached.
Hackers took advantage of the default password "admin123" to access nearly 80 camera systems in 20 states throughout 2024, stealing around 50,000 private video clips from hospitals, schools, offices, and homes.
These videos were then sold through global porn networks, with Telegram groups used to facilitate paid access for ₹700-₹4,000 each.
Hackers used factory default passwords
Clips even popped up as teasers on YouTube channels like "Megha Mbbs" and "cp monda."
The hackers relied on unchanged factory passwords and outdated security setups to pull off their attacks.
Police acted quickly—within just 39 hours of the FIR, multiple suspects were arrested, including lead hacker Parit Dhameliya (25), a BCom grad.
The group faces charges under cyberterrorism laws as investigators continue to examine the breach.
