Haryana marks 350 years since Guru Teg Bahadur's sacrifice
Haryana is rolling out statewide events to honor the 350th anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur's martyrdom, wrapping up with a big gathering in Kurukshetra on November 25.
Prime Minister Modi will be there as chief guest, following a unanimous push from the Haryana Assembly to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur "in a befitting manner."
Blood drives, student contests, and lasting tributes
The government has organized 350 blood donation drives (already collecting 27,000 units), plus storytelling and essay competitions involving over three lakh students. Shaheedi Yatras are also part of the mix.
Chief Minister Saini wants these tributes to last—think renaming schools and setting up research chairs in Guru Teg Bahadur's name.
The Sikh Guru was martyred in 1675 for standing firm against forced religious conversion—a moment that still inspires resistance against injustice today.
