Hit-and-run case: Jagan's quash petition hearing on June 27
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is facing a hit-and-run case after a vehicle in his convoy killed party supporter Cheeli Singaiah on June 18 near Rentapalla village.
Police say Singaiah was trapped under the wheels and later died at the hospital.
After reviewing CCTV and drone footage, police named both Reddy and his driver as accused under new criminal law sections, and seized his bulletproof car.
Reddy calls case politically motivated
Reddy has filed a petition to quash the FIR, calling it politically motivated and lacking real evidence—he says arrests should only happen if there's risk of fleeing or tampering with proof.
The High Court will hear his plea on June 27, promising no action against him until then.
Meanwhile, Reddy's party claims this whole case is just an attempt to damage his image and disrupt his political work.
