Howrah to host Bengal's 1st women-only 'iftar' party
On March 7, Deeniyat Muallima College and Know Your Neighbour are teaming up to host Bengal's first-ever women-only iftar party (Dosti ki Iftar) in Howrah.
The event mainly invites non-Muslim college women from Kolkata to experience Ramzan traditions firsthand and spark open conversations.
It's all about bringing people together and making space for real understanding.
A new approach to 'iftar'
Iftar parties in Bengal are usually male-dominated, so this is a refreshing change.
By focusing on women and inviting those from different backgrounds, the organizers hope to break stereotypes and encourage genuine connections across communities.
Empowering women
Deeniyat Muallima College isn't just about events: it's been empowering Muslim women by running programs to train them as educators who have reached a large number of children in West Bengal.
This iftar is another step in supporting women to lead the way in dialogue and community building.
