IAF picks up 9 used Jaguars from UK for parts
India
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is picking up nine old Jaguar fighter jets from the UK not to fly them, but to use their parts and keep six Jaguar squadrons running.
With only 29 squadrons instead of the approved 42, the IAF is working hard to stretch its resources and keep its fleet in action.
France and Oman donated Jaguar airframes
This isn't the first time India's sourced used Jaguars: France donated 31 airframes back in 2018, and Oman sent over more than 20.
These hand-me-downs are a lifeline for spare parts like engines and landing gear.
About half of India's Jaguars have also been upgraded with better radar and cockpit tech, helping them stay relevant until newer jets arrive.
