IMD: Cyclonic system pushing monsoon into 6 states June 23
Good news for rain lovers: IMD says the monsoon will progress into parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh around June 23, 2026.
This push is thanks to a cyclonic system brewing near the Odisha-West Bengal coast.
While some weather models hint at a stronger system, IMD expects a milder one that will still bring those much-needed rain clouds across Central India.
Scattered central showers and Konkan rains
From June 20, expect scattered showers in Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha for about six days.
Konkan, Goa, and Mumbai are in for fairly widespread to widespread rain starting from Monday, June 22.
Down south, Kerala and Coastal Karnataka will see steady rainfall too, plus Tamil Nadu and Puducherry can look forward to some heavy weekend showers.
IMD also says monsoon activity should pick up even more over the next two weeks as easterly winds strengthen.
