IMD issues red alert for dense fog in Uttar Pradesh
Heads up, UP! The weather department has put out a red alert for dense fog and chilly days across several parts of the state.
Places like Agra, Prayagraj, and Kanpur are already seeing super low visibility—sometimes less than 50 meters—which could mess with travel by road, train, or even flights.
This thick fog is expected to stick around through December 22, especially late at night and in the early mornings.
What's causing it & what to watch out for
The IMD says cold northerly winds and an anti-cyclone are behind this stretch of cold days—where daytime highs drop over 4.5°C below normal (and "severe" cold days mean a dip of more than 6.5°C).
Cities like Lucknow, Bareilly, and Varanasi might feel these chills until December 24.
If you're heading out early or traveling anywhere in UP this week, take it slow and stay safe!
