IMD issues yellow alert for heavy rain in Kerala districts
India
Heads up, Kerala!
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put out a yellow alert for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam.
These areas could see some pretty heavy rain, anywhere between 64.5mm and 115.5mm in just a day.
People are being advised to stay cautious and be prepared.
Cyclonic circulation and trough bring rain
Blame it on the weather systems above us: there's a cyclonic circulation hanging over east Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, plus a trough stretching from the southeast Arabian Sea to Karnataka.
With these in play, more rain is likely for a couple of days, so it's smart to keep an eye on updates and stay safe.
