IMD says Maharashtra monsoon due after June 24, yellow alert
India
The IMD says Maharashtra's monsoon is running late this year: it's now expected after June 24 thanks to weak weather systems.
Until then, Mumbai and neighboring districts like Thane, Palghar, and Raigad are stuck with a yellow alert for hot and humid days through June 19.
So if you're in the city, it's all about keeping cool and staying hydrated.
Huge June rainfall shortfall in Mumbai
Mumbai is seeing a huge rainfall shortfall this June; Santacruz got just 12.9mm of rain, while Mumbai's normal June rainfall is over 500mm, and Colaba only saw 4.3mm.
The heat isn't helping either: Colaba hit 35.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, well above normal for this time of year.
The IMD is keeping an eye out, but real rain isn't expected until after the 24th, so hang in there!
