IMD: western disturbance to bring rain to North India
Heads up, rain is on the way for North India!
The India Meteorological Department says a western disturbance will bring light to moderate showers to the Western Himalayas and parts of northwest India from June 18-22.
This system should also help the southwest monsoon move further into eastern and central regions soon.
Monsoon advancing, heatwave pockets remain
Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand can expect rain between June 17-22. Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab might see scattered showers too.
Uttar Pradesh gets a split forecast: western areas could get rain June 17-19 and 22, while eastern Uttar Pradesh sees showers on June 17-18 and 21-22.
Meanwhile, the monsoon is set to reach Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh in the next five days, but some spots like Chhattisgarh until June 17, Telangana until June 18, Vidarbha until June 19, and western Uttar Pradesh from June 19-22 will still feel heatwave conditions.
