India blocks Telegram until June 22, citing alleged NEET-UG leaks
Telegram is blocked across India until June 22, just before the NEET-UG re-exam on June 21.
The government made this call after several questions were allegedly circulating on Telegram before the exam, which led to the original exam's cancelation after several questions were allegedly circulating over Telegram before the exam.
The NTA says earlier attempts to stop cheating through takedowns did not work, so they are going all in with this temporary ban.
Telegram editing disabled until June 30
To make things tighter, Telegram's message editing feature is also disabled until June 30. This helps prevent fake "proof" of leaks from spreading.
NTA DG Abhishek Singh said these steps are needed to protect the future of about 22 lakh young minds.
