India enhances drone capabilities amid external threats

India is stepping up its defense game by approving an emergency purchase of Remotely Piloted Aerial Vehicles (RPAVs) worth ₹2,000 crore.
This move follows recent drone attacks from Pakistan after Operation Sindoor, highlighting the need for better protection at the borders.
The new tech—called Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction Systems (IDDIS)—will help spot and stop hostile drones more effectively.

Push for more homegrown drones and tech

With rising concerns over China and Pakistan's growing drone fleets, India is not just buying new gear but also pushing for more homegrown drones and tech.
The private sector is getting a bigger role in developing these systems, speeding up India's journey toward self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
