India keeps gasoline and diesel prices unchanged despite peace deal
Even though the US and Iran just signed a peace deal that calmed global energy markets, gasoline and diesel prices in India haven't changed since May 25.
State-run oil companies are still dealing with ups and downs in crude oil costs from earlier tensions in West Asia.
Just last month, they raised fuel prices by ₹7.50 per liter after keeping them steady for 78 days, the first hike in over four years.
Brent crude at $78.66 per barrel
Since the peace agreement on Thursday, June 18, 2026, Brent crude prices dropped to $78.66 per barrel, which helped the Indian rupee strengthen to ₹94.50 against the US dollar.
The deal also requires a $300 billion plan to finance Iran's recovery, and Iran will allow toll-free passage during a 60-day negotiation period, so analysts expect things to keep stabilizing as oil prices fall further.
