India secures NEET retest as IAF flies papers, Telegram restricted
After a huge NEET exam paper leak affecting more than 2 million students, India is rolling out some serious new security measures for the retest.
The government restricted the use of messaging platform Telegram until June 22, according to a statement by the National Testing Agency (NTA), and, for the first time ever, the Indian Air Force will fly exam papers to centers.
People making the questions are also under strict surveillance with restricted access to phones and communications.
Protests in India accompany Gaokao comparisons
These moves come as protests from the opposition parties and a youth movement protest for accountability and the education minister's resignation.
The government hopes these steps will rebuild trust after widespread outrage over the leak.
Interestingly, India's new approach is similar to China's famously strict Gaokao exam security, where police escort test papers and tech companies disable AI tools during exams to keep things fair for everyone.
