India sends Bailey bridge parts to Betrawati, Nepal after floods
India just sent over the first set of Bailey bridge parts to Betrawati, Nepal, after devastating floods swept through the region in late August.
The 70-meter steel bridge is designed for quick assembly: no heavy machinery needed.
Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava shared that more shipments are coming soon, as Nepal continues to recover from floods that left nearly 1,400 people dead and over 5,000 missing.
IAF flights deliver over 130 tons
The Bailey bridge is only one piece of India's broader relief efforts.
So far, over 130 tons of supplies, like temporary shelters, medicines, and hygiene kits, have been delivered by eight special Indian Air Force flights.
Plus, Indian teams with rescue gear and forensic experts are working alongside the Nepal Army to help communities get back on their feet.
