What's the story
Cricket Indonesia is developing the Bali International Oval (BIO) in North Bali, with two full-sized turf ovals and is designed to be a year-round venue for international cricket and high-performance training. The Garuda National Cricket Academy will operate as the high-performance center within this complex, serving as a training base for Indonesia's senior and age-group teams.
Training base
Year-round facility for training and development
The Bali International Oval will also host visiting international teams, academies, coaches, and curators. The project is not just about hosting tournaments but creating a year-round facility for cricket training and development.
The footprints of both ovals have already been established with the center-wicket blocks taking shape. The next phase will include wicket maturation, surface refinement, drainage and irrigation work.
Regional center
High-performance hub for Asia-Pacific region
Cricket Indonesia envisions the Bali International Oval as a potential high-performance hub for the Asia-Pacific region.
The facility will bring together training, sports science, coach education, athlete recovery, and tournament operations under one roof.
The project was inspired by Indonesia's formal induction into the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) family during its Annual General Meeting in Bali in January 2024.

Infrastructure ready for Olympic era
The development of the Bali International Oval comes at a time when Indonesia is looking to leverage cricket's global expansion and its return to the Olympic Games.
Cricket Indonesia hopes that this facility can pave an Olympic pathway for young Indonesian players while also attracting international teams and programs to Bali.
"Our infrastructure must be ready for that era," said Abhiram Singh Yadav, chairman of Cricket Indonesia.
