India set for record rice harvest in 2025-26, says USDA

India is on track to hit a record 152 million tons of rice in the 2025-26 season, thanks to expanded planting and good monsoon rains.
More farmers are switching from cotton to rice due to its potential for higher yields and less risk than cotton.
On the flip side, oilseed production is expected to dip slightly compared to last year.

Wheat gains ground , oilseeds face a dip

Wheat output is also climbing—projected at 117.9 million tons this season, up from 113 million last year—with more land being used for sowing.
Meanwhile, oilseed crops are seeing a drop, so the government is rolling out new seeds and support programs to help boost future production.
