India sets up camp office in Saudi Arabia after tragic bus crash
After a devastating bus accident near Medina killed at least 44 Indian Umrah pilgrims—most from Hyderabad—the Indian Consulate has opened a special camp office in Medina to help families and coordinate support.
The crash happened early November 17, when the group's bus collided with a fuel tanker and caught fire.
Support for families and the only survivor
The new camp office, along with control rooms in Jeddah and Hyderabad, is working to assist grieving families as authorities work to identify victims—many of whom suffered severe burns.
Among all passengers, only 24-year-old Mohd Abdul Shoiab survived by breaking a window and escaping before the fire spread.
Relatives have been gathering at Hajj House in Nampally, anxiously waiting for news about their loved ones.
The government has offered condolences and is promising all possible help during this difficult time.
