India stands with Australia after tragic Bondi Beach attack

India

India has voiced strong support for Australia following a terrorist attack at Sydney's Bondi Beach on December 14, 2025, which cut short Hanukkah celebrations and left 15 people dead and over 40 injured.
India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reached out to his Australian counterpart Penny Wong, sharing condolences and firmly condemning the violence.

What happened and how leaders responded

The attack was carried out by Sajid Akram and his son Naveed—Sajid was killed by police, while Naveed is in the hospital.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called it a "dark moment" for the country, noting that Hanukkah should be a day of joy, a celebration of faith.
Indian PM Narendra Modi also spoke out against the attack, stressing India's zero tolerance for terrorism and offering solidarity to those affected.
