India studies replacing aging turbines to boost clean energy output

India is looking to replace its aging wind turbines with newer, more efficient models.
Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi says the government is already studying how well the current turbines work and what upgrades are possible, aiming to boost clean energy output.
India's 100GW wind target slowed
Joshi points out that better turbines could help India hit its ambitious 100-gigawatt wind power target by 2029, a year earlier than planned.
But there are a few bumps in the road: defense rules and airspace restrictions have slowed things down in some areas.
The government is talking with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to sort out these issues and make it easier for new projects to get approved, especially near sensitive borders.
