India to revamp nuclear laws, set up special tribunal

India is gearing up for a big update to its nuclear energy laws, aiming to bring all the old rules under one roof and open doors for private companies in areas like exploration, mining, and making fuel.
The plan also includes setting up a special tribunal just for sorting out nuclear-related disputes.

Fresh nuclear safety authority to work with IAEA

A fresh nuclear safety authority will work closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to keep safety standards tight.
The reforms might mean homegrown uranium is saved mainly for strategic needs, while imported uranium powers commercial projects.
Meanwhile, things like heavy water production and waste treatment will likely stay in government hands.
