Indian Air Force lands IL-76MD at high-altitude Mudh-Nyoma in Ladakh
India
Big day for the Indian Air Force!
On November 7, 2026, it landed a heavy-lift IL-76MD aircraft at Mudh-Nyoma air base in Ladakh, an impressive feat since the base sits way up at 13,629 feet.
This move shows just how ready and capable India is when it comes to operating in tough, high-altitude spots.
Coincidentally, this happened on the same day PM Modi delivered his Diwali message.
PM Modi issues Diwali video greeting
In his video greeting, PM Modi wished everyone happiness and prosperity, calling Diwali "a symbol of light's triumph over darkness."
He kept up his tradition of celebrating with soldiers but didn't disclose where he plans to spend the festival this year, showing continued support for unity and standing by the armed forces during the festival.
