Indian government disputes Karnataka claim of excessive ethanol in E20
India
The Indian government has pushed back against Karnataka's claim that E20 gasoline contains too much ethanol.
Officials say tests from 893 samples nationwide, including 56 from Karnataka, showed ethanol levels were right where they should be, between 19% and 21%.
That's a big contrast to Karnataka's report of levels hitting 31%.
Oil firms say Karnataka mishandled sampling
Oil companies say Karnataka didn't follow proper sampling guidelines, which led to confusion about the results.
Despite this back-and-forth, India's E20 program keeps rolling, helping cut oil imports, lower emissions, and support rural incomes since its start in 2001.
The debate continues, but the push for cleaner fuel isn't slowing down.
